BRIDGEHOLME continued their quest for promotion with a 36 run victory at Stainland.
On a difficult wicket they had to work hard for their total of 144 with only Abbas, 43, and Keith Hudson, 20, really getting to grips with the conditions.
Tuffiq Butt has been scoring runs for fun in recent weeks but, after a rare recent failure wit
h the bat, he more than made up for it with the ball as he took 5 for 24 from 22 overs - 12 of which were maidens - to skittle Stainland out for 78.
Ditta, 4 for 23, proved to be a perfect foil at the other end.

- BRIDGEHOLME seconds needed the efforts of three half centurians to set up victory from the very last scheduled ball of a high-scoring match against Stainland.
Put in to bat first, Stainland made the most of a pitch that favoured the batsmen, using only five of their wickets to post a challenging total of 269.
Clearly seeking revenge for home defeat at the hands of Bridgeholme earlier in the season, Stainland openers Opacic and Fletcher confidently struck boundaries and sixes before Opacic was caught by Bob Pinnington for 30 off the bowling of Darren Earnshaw (1 wicket off six overs for 37 runs).
But this was no breakthrough for the bowlers, and Stainland's batsmen continued to pile on the runs.
for Fletcher (39, bowled by Mick Brooks, 1 off 9 for 50), Cowan (53, LBW Steve Lord, 1 off 6 for 41), Norcliffe (33, caught behind by Barry Whitehead off Oliver Challis, 1 off 4 for 30), and Whitham (29, caught by Pinnington off Simon Harris, 1 off 8 for 40).
Batchelor (21 not out) and 13-year-old Jake Pinchin, who struck seven boundaries during his excellent 49 not out, saw the innings through, and left the home side with everything to do.
Bridgeholme's opening batsmen wobbled, with only Chris Kibble (20) making double figures as the home side dipped to 38 for 3.
A fine partnership between Whitehead (16) and Pinnington (57) opened the door for a Bridgeholme revival before Steve Ashworth knocked seven sixes and two fours for one of the quickest half centuries seen from the seconds this season before he was eventually caught for 55.
Skipper Earnshaw (24) kept the innings on the level before young Challis took the stage, banging four fours and four sixes as he sped to 51, falling to a boundary catch by Whitham off Batchelor.
Tail-enders Harry Dixon (9 not out) and Lord (5 not out) were left to face the final over with no wickets to spare, and three runs needed for a win.
Bringing a fine and sporting contest to a close, spin bowler Lord cleanly clipped the last ball of the match for an off-side boundary, and a valuable home win for Bridge.
