BOROUGH suffered a disappointing start to the West Lancashire season – but defeat at last year's relegated side was not entirely a surprise.
Already missing some players to cricket and holidays, manager Paul Harris found his
resources further depleted with eight squad members off on a stag weekend.
As a result a number of last year's under-18 squad were given their chance in both the first and second teams.
The reserves on the wrong end of a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Whinney Hill on Saturday but bounced back on Monday night to win 3-1 against Haslingden St Mary's Reserves at Bellholme.
Marvin Bonney scored twice and Chris Kay added a third in a very pleasing performance.
On Saturday the first team entertains Lancashire Constabulary while the reserves travel to Burnley United.
